This collection houses the main book collection of the Special Collections. Many of these books are considered rare and no longer in print. As the collection grows, emphasis is being placed more on Appalachia, Tennessee, local history, and works by Carson-Newman and local authors. Also included are works of literature, religion, and history. A vertical file is maintained alongside the collection with clippings and various materials relating to Appalachia and Tennessee.
