Media
Center - Mission & Purpose
The
Media Services Center, located on the fourth floor of the Library,
has provided faculty, staff, and students with a comprehensive
assortment of media to facilitate teaching and learning since
1972. Media services available include satellite teleconferencing
capabilities, special equipment training, duplication services
for audio and video materials in accordance with copyright laws,
and professional consultation on purchase, production and effective
applications of media resources.
Purpose
The
purpose of the Media Services Center is to support the instructional
program of Carson-Newman College with up-to-date audio-visual
materials and equipment.
Hours
of operation
The
Media Services Center is open from 8:30 am until 5:00 pm, Monday
through Friday. Arrangements can be made for most items of equipment
and materials to be checked out for use elsewhere, but individuals
so doing remain responsible for equipment loss or damage and
for the return of equipment and/or materials to the Media Services
Center.
Who
may use?
Anyone
who has a valid Carson-Newman College identification card is
authorized to use the facilities and equipment of the Media
Services Center. Anyone who does not have a C-N ID card may
inquire in the Media Services Center about using equipment and
materials on-site.
What
types of media resources are available?
A
varied assortment of audio and video resources is available
for patron use either in the Media Services Center or for overnight
checkout. If you have a question about using a particular type
of equipment or resource, don't hesitate to ask the Media Center
staff (ext. 3341).
