The most comprehensive index to use when searching for commentaries in journals is ATLA Religion Database. Like InfoTrac, it will provide some full text articles as well as just references. To find commentaries and criticism on entire books of the Bible:

1. Select "Indexes" from the navigation bar.

2. Select "Subjects All" from the drop down menu.

3. Use the following "formula": Bible (NT) book. (For example, Bible (NT) John) Click Browse.

4. Check the subdivisions for commentaries and criticism and any others that are relevant to your search. Then click "Add".

5. The search terms are automatically added to the search ("Find") box, so all you have to do is click "Search".
